Eindhoven is a pre-eminent technology city. Additive manufacturing (3D printing) especially here is unsurpassed anywhere in the world. Lareka does its part in this respect. The company recently participated in the World Design for Additive Manufacturing Challenge 2017. And won first prize.
3D printing breakthrough
The submission was a sealing bar, 3D printed in stainless steel. This sealing bar emerged as a solution to a practical problem: thermal damage to chocolate. Sealing packaging at a temperature of 140°C causes aesthetic defects. By means of a sealing bar with ventilation and cooling ribs, the resulting irregularities are a thing of the past. An ambient temperature of approximately 26°C directly creates a cosmetic effect. Good for first prize.
Over 100 participants throughout the world took part in the World Design for Additive Manufacturing Challenge 2017. The Challenge was held at the High-tech Campus in Eindhoven, the beating heart of the Brainport Region. In 2011, the region was pronounced the smartest region in the world.
